EdgePoint Learning and Compassion International Partner to Protect Sensitive Information

EdgePoint Learning Builds Custom eLearning Courseware to Ensure Sensitive Information is Protected

Phoenix, AZ – EdgePoint Learning and Compassion International, a leading Christian child development ministry, have partnered to create interactive eLearning training modules that ensure sensitive information remains secure.

Compassion International focuses on spiritual, physical, economic and social needs of children throughout the world. Through a variety of programs including child sponsorship, AIDS Initiative, Malaria Intervention, as well as partnerships with leading music artists such as Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, and Rebecca St. James Compassion is able to reach out and positively impact the lives of more than 1 million children in 24 countries.

Ensuring the safe handling of information within an organization of this size is imperative. Making sure that employees comply with not only Compassion’s internal policies and procedures but also with U.S. Federal laws and regulation practices prompted Compassion to look for a partner that could assist in delivering this much needed training. EdgePoint Learning is delivering an interactive eLearning course focusing on Information Security. Initially the course will be released in the United States as a beta test with a global roll-out to follow later.

“Compassion is serious about stewardship,” says Mike Byrd, Global Staff Development Director. “We are entrusted by our clients, sponsors and donors to handle extremely sensitive information.  Therefore, our ability to provide a secure environment with which to conduct transactions is vitally important to the way we do business.

The course simply called Information Security is one of many courses that Compassion is developing as part of their extensive internal training and development program. Compassion uses an advanced Performance Management Process approach to addressing the needs of their organization. Leveraging best of class tools including the LMS they selected, Compassion is able to make high profile training such as the “Information Security” course required and report on the overall success of the course.

“Working with Compassion International is an honor,” says Krista Kalish, Senior Custom Services Manager of EdgePoint Learning. “Their passion for their work—on all levels—is inspiring and I am pleased we are able to assist and contribute to the success of an organization that makes such a difference in so many people’s lives.”
Information Security is the first of many courses that Compassion International is working with EdgePoint Learning on.

EdgePoint Learning and Clearwire Streamline the Sales Process

EdgePoint Learning Turns Data and Order Entry into a Dynamic and Engaging Learning Experience While Freeing Up Valuable Resources.

Phoenix, AZ – EdgePoint Learning and Clearwire, a leading provider of instant, mobile and reliable wireless high-speed Internet and digital voice services, have partnered to create a blended approach to product and sales process training.

With over 800 learners requiring the sales training program, Clearwire needed a solution to address the multiple learning styles of their audience as well as support the geographically dispersed learning population spanning the United States. Clearwire was able to align training requirements with corporate goals by deciding on a blended solution of self-paced e-learning and instructor- led training. This approach to education reinforces Clearwire’s commitment to their core values of “hiring and developing great people” and ultimately “producing superior customer experiences.”

According to the recently published Corporate Learning Factbook from Bersin and Associates, sales training ranks high in the priorities of Technology companies. In fact, Technology companies invest 29% of their training dollars on sales training, averaging $1,202 budgeted per learner. Technology based learning is constantly growing as individuals are becoming more and more tech savvy.

“Before selecting EdgePoint Learning to create our program, Clearwire considered a variety of solutions” said Dawn Fourrier, Director of Sales Training, “EdgePoint Learning goes above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction. They respected our timeframes and budgets, listened to our requests, and addressed our needs quickly.”

Product and Sales Process training is not always the most exciting material to train. Learners engage in their e-Learning environment via 3D multimedia interactions, dynamic animations, and hands on activities to ensure high knowledge transfer, retention, and learner completion.

Thus far the program has received positive learner feedback. It jumpstarts the learner’s on-boarding process, enabling them to start selling in the field more quickly. It also reduces the time each manager has to spend on new hire training. One of the more notable results is that trainees come to the subsequent instructor-led training much more prepared to share and connect with their peers.

Additionally, the Clearwire sales team is able to track individual proficiency to uncover situations where additional reinforcement may be required.  The goal is to get Clearwire sales representatives focused on what they do best as quickly as possible:  deliver simple, fast and mobile cutting-edge technology that changes not only the way people use Internet and phone services, but where they use it.

Clearwire is building, from the ground up, a single network that bridges the gap between today’s wire line and wireless networks by delivering a true, broadband experience in a secure spectrum called WiMax. By working with world-class organizations like EdgePoint Learning they are reinforcing their commitment to their employees, their customers, and their technology.

EdgePoint Learning partners with the State of Alaska Department of Education & Early Development

EdgePoint Learning to Create Dynamic eLearning Content for Alaska School Districts

Phoenix, AZ – EdgePoint Learning today announced that it has been selected by the State of Alaska Department of Education and Early Development (EED)to develop eLearning solutions designed to offer staff training to educators in all of Alaska’s school districts on a variety of topics..

The demand for educating school personnel on-line has increased dramatically as the costs to send live trainers to remote areas have increased and broadband Internet access has become more prevalent throughout the state. Much of the demand for new training is fueled by the nationwide No Child Left Behind education reform movement, which places great emphasis on professional development, highly qualified educators, and customized responses to individual district, school, and student learning needs.

Also driving the demand for educator training in Alaska is a collection of federal and state laws requiring training for school personnel on a broad spectrum of topics ranging from precautions against blood-borne pathogens, to drug and alcohol-related disabilities, to supporting students with special needs.

The State of Alaska’s library of eLearning modules will allow teachers, paraprofessionals, administrators, and other school personnel to better support student learning, further promote the development of student social skills, improve school safety, improve teaching strategies for students with special needs, and maximize the learning opportunities available for all students.

EED was looking for a way to provide training to school districts, both large and small, across geographic expanses where travel is often impractical. In addition, EED needed to maintain performance records to track learners enrolled in the training program. The State of Alaska eLearning Training Program created by EdgePoint Learning for EED will expand on its already successful program. To begin with EdgePoint Learning will be developing Gender and Race Equity, Individual Education Plan Meeting Development and Special Education Evaluation Summary and Eligibility Report eLearning modules. These modules will take the source content and bring it to life through the use of the latest in learning technology. Learners will enjoy a multi-media experience including games, 3-D animations, professional voiceovers, and constant interactivity.

The State of Alaska Department of Education and Early Development (EED) has long been a thought leader and early adopter in the world of eLearning and has received national attention for its eLearning programs. The three year agreement for twenty to thirty hours of dynamic eLearning builds on a program started four years ago that has been used to train school personnel. The demand for more eLearning has grown exponentially with the program being expanded to train both classroom and non-classroom staff. EED’s e-learning library began with a single module being utilized by several hundred users in just a few districts during year one and now has a library of twenty modules utilized by forty five of Alaska’s fifty four districts, with more than two thousand five hundred learners yearly utilizing an average of three to four modules each.

“Being selected by the State of Alaska reinforces our commitment to delivering quality learning results for our clients through engaging solutions, easy implementation and smooth integration,” says Krista Kalish, partner at EdgePoint Learning. “This is a perfect example of how eLearning can be used to reach out across a large geographic area to ensure that educational professionals can be equipped with the tools and knowledge to excel in their roles. We look forward to working with the State of Alaska on this and future projects.”
